Well OK, not quite jobs, more like one and a half. Last Monday, I was offered a job that involved permanent night shifts. While any job at this point is better than no job, working permanent nights is certainly not what I was after. So I asked for time to discuss the implications of working nights with my youngest, and it was agreed that I would phone them back on Friday to confirm. While not desirable it’s good to have at least one job offer.
Wednesday was the interview for the desired job, although the pay is less than the night shift one, it is a more desirable job and is subject to pay reviews and bonus incentives. The interview also contained a practical test and tour of the purpose built office block, with free parking for those having to travel by car (that’s me folks!). During the tour, we got to see the employees in action, and everyone appeared happy and relaxed.
Thursday I got the good news that I passed the interview for the desired job, and while they want to offer me a position, they have to wait for my security clearance which should take 5 working days to complete. So now I have half a job offer, if you see what I mean.

Keeping my fingers crossed
Friday dawns and I make the phone call to accept the (now) dreaded night shift offer, with the hopes of delaying the start date for a week to give the desired job time to clear the security clearance. I was unable to get hold of HR person, so I leave a voice message, and by lunch time I phone again. Again HR person is unavailable. Well phooey! OK, so I really don’t want the crummy job, but it’s better than no job right now (Jobs just don’t grow on trees guys!). Anyway, it’s Monday now, and I phone again and leave yet another message, by lunch time the HR person returns my call, and yes the job is still there, and can I start Monday?
“You bet I can!! BTW, when can I book holidays?”

This means I will be rejoining the ‘Dark Side’ of life next Monday, but more importantly I will be EMPLOYED!!
Congratulations! Glad you’ve finally got something
Yay! So glad that it worked out for you! Now, um, what happens if the “desired” job pans out and you are offered that position also? Well done, Roxy! mwah! xoxo
Squeeness! *bounces* I am glad you have a job and a half (is this like the glass and a half in Cadbury’s chocolate? Even if it’s not, you should have some chocolate to celebrate *nod*).
